Re: Case No. 00-29-TA (Antenna Towers) & March 5 Public Roundtable

Dear Chairperson Mitten:

In response to the Commission's request at the February 5, 2001 hearing for background information on the issues involved in antenna tower siting, I am submitting for the record with this letter copies of two videotapes (both recorded on one tape) regarding the issues raised by the siting of antenna towers. The first video is titled "Broadcast Blues" and was produced by Len Aitken Productions. It follows the efforts of the citizens of Golden, Colorado to defeat the rezoning of part of Lookout Mountain for a large new high definition television broadcast tower to serve the greater Denver region and explains many of the zoning, health, interference and related tower siting issues. The second video, "Public Exposure: DNA, Democracy and the Wireless Revolution," was produced by the Council on Wireless Technology Impacts in Novato, CA, and explores some of the latest research on the potential health risks and consequences of wireless devices and base stations (cell towers). Both videos are approximately 57-58 minutes long.

I have also attached several documents regarding health hazards of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields: (a) Neil Cherry, Lincoln University, Canterbury, New Zealand, "Living Near Broadcast Towers is Hazardous to your Health: Implications for Cell Sites," May 16, 2000, which summarizes a number of major studies on the effects of RF radiation; (b) Cindy Sage, Sage Associates, October 15, 1999 report to the Scottish Parliament on the possible health effects of wireless communications; (c) Cindy Sage, Sage Associates, study matrix on "Reported Biological Effects from Radiofrequency Non-Ionizing Radiation, published at www.wave-guide.org/library/studies.html. All three documents contain extensive bibliographies of related scientific studies.

Sincerely,

Ann Hume Loikow
